Inspired by Fashion

“Inspired by Fashion” series is an exploration of the connection between fashion and abstract art. It is my newest series and one that really resonates with me because of my love for fashion and design. I have created a number of pieces in this collection inspired by Dolce&Gabbana , Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, and Emilio Pucci. Currently I am working on new pieces to add to my collection.

Northern Lights

Northern Lights

I am fascinated by the natural intensity and the movement of the Northern Lights and continue to add new work. I have a number of current pieces for sale. While green and yellow are the most typical aurora colours seen in Southern Alberta, the world has seen glorious northern lights in reds, purples, and orange which I have captured in my recent work.

Abstract

Abstract

I have no available Abstract pieces but I intend on adding to my collection in 2026. Creating abstracts is an intuitive process in which decisions are made as you go. It requires risk, curiosity and a willingness to step beyond what is safe. Focus may be on exploration of colour, texture, mark making or brush stroke and design. I am leaning more towards abstract work because I find that I can be the most creative. This doesn’t mean you don’t need a plan or starting point but the focus is really on the process and often it is a happy experiment which often captures your  passion and emotion in the moment.

Landscapes

Landscapes

Although Landscapes are not my primary focus, I occasionally do commission work in oils. “Castle Mountain” and “Sunshine Meadows “are the most current (2025).  “Autumn Glow” and “Elbow Valley” were both commissioned in 2022.

Bears and Animals

Bears and Animals

“Gotcha” was recently sold at the Children’s Hospital Aide Society fundraiser CHAS 2025 and was purchased by one of my bear collectors. I love to paint bears and have painted many pets on commission. Bella is my son’s dog and I painted her in December 2024. In earlier years I had a lot of fun experimenting with acrylic textures to create my rooster and chickens and who doesn’t love cows !

Portraits Archived

I was commissioned by a family to create “London Calling” (2022)  It is inspired by an image portraying their five children.

One of my first portraits is the painting titled “Aurora in Dolores’ Garden”. Aurora , my niece was playing in my sister’s garden in her cute sundress and in this painting is basking up the sun.
